Goodbye Georgia

We crossed the border from Canada into the United States in April 1999. En route to our new life in Lawrenceville, Georgia, my husband and I were nervous and excited. With four kids in tow, we were leaving all of our family behind to start a new life in the south. Just because, well, “why not?”

During the last 20+ years, we have lived in a big house in the suburbs, a tiny condo in the city, and a mountain cabin in the woods.

A fan of change, once the kids were grown we began trying out all kinds of ways to live. Looking for that “just right,” we are now residents of Florida who live in a 45-foot motorcoach.

Life is strange. If you had told me when I lived in the ‘burbs in Canada that I would be living and traveling the US in an RV, I would have thought you were out of your gourd.

The idea of selling it all and hitting the road became a reality when the real estate market took a huge upswing and the property values of our two log homes skyrocketed. If we were dreaming of living “on the road” for a few years, the time to start the journey was now.

So we did.

We sold our home and upgraded our RV from a 37-foot Class A motorhome to a 45-foot Class A motorhome (with WAY more storage space for full time.)

Our first Class A Motorhome

We are now full-time residents of Florida, although we really won’t be spending more than half the year here in Fort Myers. The goal is to park it here in the winter to enjoy the beautiful Fort Myers temps and hit the road come springtime.

We are so grateful for all the friends we have met since moving to Georgia. We have created so many amazing memories, but now it’s time to see what the rest of this country has to offer.
